The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration’s hospitality management program recently earned reaccreditation after a rigorous evaluation process.
The hospitality management program was reaccredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration until 2027. The ACPHA is a private, nonprofit organization of hospitality, tourism and business professionals in the U.S. It sets standards for effective curriculums, instruction and leadership.
Becky Dubois, coordinator of the hospitality management program and a master instructor, said it gives students a strong technical base. The program also provides hands-on experience in all aspects of hospitality management – lodging, food service, tourism, transportation, entertainment and events.
“ACPHA reaccreditation affirms the value of our program and ensures that our students are receiving a competitive education that meets hospitality industry standards,” Dubois said.
Dr. Geralyn M. Franklin, interim dean at Moody College of Business, said a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management prepares graduates for a range of careers.
“Reaccreditation reinforces the quality of our program, and ensures our curriculum meets employers’ needs and prepares graduates to be competitive in the job market. Alumni of the program are working in hospitality management and leadership roles around the world, from small locally-owned businesses to corporations,” Franklin said.
UL Lafayette is the only four-year university in Louisiana with a hospitality management program dually-accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and ACPHA.
