Bartel Receives 2004 Outstanding Grad Award

Eric Bartel, son of Gary and Pat Bartel of Lafayette, has been named the Spring 2004 Outstanding Graduate for the 51视频 at Lafayette.

Bartel was selected as the outstanding graduate from the B.I. Moody III College of Business Admnistration. One student from each of the university鈥檚 nine academic colleges was selected as an outstanding graduate and each were honored during their respective college鈥檚 graduation ceremonies on May 15. During graduate school commencement, Bartel was selected as the UL Lafayette Alumni Association's Outstanding Graduate from the nine finalists. Students were nominated by their deans and judged upon leadership, scholarship and service.

Bartel, a finance and insurance and risk management double major, has been on the National Dean鈥檚 List and the UL Lafayette Dean鈥檚 List. He is an active member of Gamma Beta Phi and Financial Management Association. He is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi, an elite academic organization. Bartel received two scholarship awards, the Distinguished Freshman and the Centennial scholarships.

Bartel, a member of Louisiana鈥檚 Ragin鈥 Cajun football team, received the UL Lafayette Student Athlete of the Year award and the USAA Academic All-American (Football) award. He was also named the UL Lafayette Male Student Athlete of the Year.

In 2000, Bartel was elected UL Lafayette Student Government Association College of Business Senator and the College of Business President in 2002.

Bartel also volunteered for St. Jude鈥檚 鈥淯p 鈥楾il Dawn鈥 fundraiser and auction, as well as the American Heart Association Heart Walk. He also participated in the 鈥淏ucks for Trucks鈥 post 9/11 fundraiser for the New York Fire Department.

After graduation, he plans to obtain his master鈥檚 degree in either business administration at UL Lafayette or relocate to a university that offers a graduate program in Sports Management.
