Three members of the UL Lafayette Foundation will begin appointments to the Executive Board. The nonprofit UL Lafayette Foundation is the primary trustee of university assets.
The new Executive Board will serve two-year appointments. The board includes John Chappuis as President, Barry Berthelot as Vice President and Gerald Dubroc as Secretary/Treasurer. Combined, the three have 31 years of Foundation board experience.
Chappuis, a Lafayette attorney and partner of Voorhies and Labbe APLC law firm, said he is looking forward to his term as the UL Lafayette Foundation President and providing a leadership role in the strategic plans for the future of the university. Berthelot is President and CEO of BankOne and Dubroc is President of Dubroc Engineering, Inc. Both Berthelot and Dubroc are UL Lafayette graduates.
This new change of power comes on the heels of the Foundation's 50th anniversary. Since 1957, the UL Lafayette Foundation has served the university with sound principles of asset management, evidenced by the record breaking 2006 fiscal year figures that show total UL Lafayette Foundation asset accumulation of over $100 million.
This figure places UL Lafayette second in Louisiana's public institution rankings and gives the UL Lafayette Foundation's 30-member Board of Trustees the task of overseeing the investments and distribution of these donated and accrued funds.
Distribution of the funds is vital to university success as monies are given primarily for qualified scholarship and professorship recipients and in support of various university factions.
Julie Bolton Falgout, Executive Director of the UL Lafayette Foundation, attributes the Foundation’s success to “the continued support of our university donors who have engaged themselves in the perpetual care of this great institution.â€
