UL Lafayette to confer 1,608 degrees during Spring 2024 Commencement

The 51视频 at Lafayette is celebrating its Spring 2024 graduates during Commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday. A total of 1,608 degrees will be conferred.  Individual Commencement ceremonies for UL Lafayette鈥檚 eight academic colleges are being held at the Cajundome and Convention Center.

The University will confer 1,249 bachelor鈥檚 degrees. It will also award 319 master鈥檚 degrees, 38 doctoral degrees, one graduate certificate and one undergraduate certificate. As a whole, graduates are from 52 Louisiana parishes; 36 states and U.S. territories; and 40 countries.

Dr. Joseph Savoie, UL Lafayette president, addressed graduates during the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences ceremony on Friday at the Cajundome.

鈥淵our diploma is an invitation to change the world 鈥 not just to do well for yourself, but to do good for others,鈥 Savoie said.

鈥淎nd these are the expectations that we have of you,鈥 he added. 鈥淭hese are the expectations that our University has had for each generation of graduates throughout its long history. And, like each generation that鈥檚 gone before, we have no doubt that you鈥檙e prepared to exceed these expectations and to set a higher bar for those who follow.鈥

Thomas Poch茅 is UL Lafayette鈥檚 Outstanding Master鈥檚 Graduate. He earned a master鈥檚 degree in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering. Karius Joseph is the University鈥檚 Outstanding Graduate. He earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in chemical engineering from the College of Engineering.

Twenty-five undergraduates earned summa cum laude honors for achieving perfect 4.0 GPAs. Members of the exemplary group, listed by college, are:
